Yummy for my Tummy!

Turkey Treats

These Thanksgiving Turkeys are fun to make but even more fun to eat!

Sweet Ingredients:

Chocolate covered cherries

Round plain or striped cookies

Hershey’s kisses

Candy corn

Red hot candies

Unwrap a kiss and carefully cut off the point to make a flat base.  Melt a couple of Hershey’s kisses in the microwave (not too hot!). Quickly dab a bit of the melted chocolate onto the flat base (feet) then very lightly and gently place a chocolate cherry on top of the kiss.  Do not push the cherry down into the kiss too hard or the cherry will break open. Allow the chocolate to dry.   You can speed-up the process by placing it into the refrigerator.

Carefully cut off a small amount of the cookie leaving a straight edge.  Use more of the melted chocolate to frost the entire cookie.  Place the candy corn in a circular pattern on the cookie to form the look of feathers.  Dab a bit more melted chocolate onto the middle of the cookie and gently press it up next to the cherry. Let chocolate dry.  Next, cut off the yellow end of a piece of candy corn.

Using a small dab of melted chocolate attach the candy corn to your turkey as a face and beak.  Add 2 pieces of the red hot candy, broken in half, to make the wattle, as seen in the picture above. These cute little turkey delights will not need to be refrigerated, just eaten!

Pilgrim Hats

These tasty treats are good for eating but not good for wearing!  It could get a bit messy!

Here is what you need:

Large Marshmallows
Chocolate striped cookies
Melting chocolate (best for dipping)
Hershey’s chocolate candy bar
Yellow tube of frosting
Toothpicks

Prepare melting chocolate per directions (Chocolate almond bark is good or you may even use melted chocolate chips).  Next, pour the melted chocolate into a deep container (I used a coffee mug).  Turn your cookies over so the chocolate side is up.  Using a toothpick, carefully dip your marshmallow into the chocolate and coat it completely.  Immediately, place the marshmallow on top of the cookie.  Now, you have your hat.  For the buckle, break off one small rectangular piece of the chocolate bar and break that piece in half to form a square.  Using the yellow frosting, outline the chocolate square to make your buckle.  Attach the chocolate buckle with a little melted chocolate.  Now you have a hat that any Pilgrim would be proud of.
